Software Engineer – Infrastructure

Camunda builds the enterprise platform for agentic orchestration, letting organisations coordinate AI agents, people and software across long, complex business processes with governance and auditability built in. **The role**

Camunda treats its CI/CD infrastructure as an internal product rather than plumbing. The team's stated goal is a "golden path" that lets 150+ engineers across 20+ teams ship quickly without sacrificing quality, so product engineers can concentrate on the agentic technology rather than fighting the pipeline.

The timing is the interesting part. Camunda is heading into what it calls a quality surge, which will sharply increase testing volume and engineering throughput. The platform has to absorb that without pushing more toil onto developers, and this role sits at the centre of making that work.

**What you would do**

- Build, run and scale the high-load infrastructure platform that product teams use daily for thousands of jobs
- Make sure new product versions are reliably built and delivered to customers through the artifact storage systems
- Find and remove developer pain points, iterating toward processes that make more sense than the ones they replace
- Work as a service-oriented partner to product teams, providing platform capability, advising on practice, and helping teams adopt the tooling
- Contribute to the team's roadmap, technical decisions and longer-term vision for the platform

**Requirements**

- Production experience with Kubernetes, specifically — this one is stated as required rather than preferred
- Infrastructure as code using any of Terraform, Pulumi or Ansible
- Cloud provider experience with GCP, AWS or Azure
- High-scale CI systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins with self-hosted runners
- Competence in at least one general-purpose language: Python, Go, Java, JavaScript or Groovy
- A track record of working well in remote, asynchronous teams and across team boundaries
- Comfort with AI-first engineering approaches
- A growth mindset, described as curiosity about improving the systems and ways of working around you

**Nice to have**

- A backend engineering background
- Broad technical interests, what they describe as a T-shaped profile
- Enjoyment of defining and documenting technical practice across a department

**Location and how you would be employed**

Fully remote. Camunda hires directly in the United States, United Kingdom and Singapore, and everywhere else through Remote.com as employer of record. Candidates outside those three markets get a personalised rewards breakdown after the first interview.

**Compensation**

Annual total target cash, combining base and full variable target. Ranges run from the minimum in a standard market to the maximum in a major tech hub:

- United States: $119,900–$193,200
- United Kingdom: £75,300–£123,800
- Singapore: S$148,900–S$223,300

Offers typically land in the first half of the range to leave room for growth. Equity is available through the Virtual Stock Option Plan where applicable.
