Why this exists
A resume asserts. It says “SEO” and “project management” in a list, and the reader has to take your word for it or go hunting through your work history for the connection.
That is a weak position in a market where everyone lists the same terms. The interesting information — that you used a skill in two different roles, or that one project is where three of your strongest capabilities came together — is invisible on a normal CV.

Is my profile public?+
Only if you publish it. It is private by default, and publishing gives you a shareable page you can link from applications. You can unpublish at any time.
Do I have to build it by hand?+
No. Uploading a resume populates most of it automatically, and you edit from there. You can also add items manually if you would rather not upload anything.
What is the difference between this and my resume?+
A resume is a document. Signal Profile is structured data about your career, which is what lets other tools use it — the tailored resume writes from it, the fit check scores from it, and the cover letter draws examples from it.
What if my history has gaps?+
That is normal and the profile does not penalise it. It shows what you have; it does not compute a completeness grade for employers to judge you on.
