Resend is building the modern email sending platform for developers, with a strong focus on quality, craft and developer experience. The company is a fully remote team of about 50 people spread across 15 countries, backed by a16z, Y Combinator and others. Resend is expanding its engineering team to keep pace with sending millions of emails a day and is looking for backend engineers who are comfortable shipping complete features end to end while understanding how the underlying infrastructure operates. This posting is the Europe-based variant of the role; a twin posting exists for candidates in the Americas. Own features from conception through launch, including API and dashboard design through service architecture. Build resilient distributed systems using queues and background workers. Scale APIs and databases as usage grows. Maintain what you build through monitoring and on-call participation. Work directly with support and customers to translate recurring issues into product and platform improvements. Strengthen tests and internal tooling alongside new feature development.
Eight or more years of software engineering experience with substantial work on production backend services. Distributed systems expertise including retries, duplicate event handling and concurrency. Strong system design skills and experience with cloud infrastructure. Proficiency in API and data model design. Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or AWS CDK. Ability to work across the stack when needed and communicate clearly in English. Capacity for some overlap with Americas working hours. Exceptional fit: deep expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, Go and Postgres, AWS experience with serverless or container infrastructure, and a background in developer tools, public APIs or email systems.
