Vardaan Enterprises is a seasonal labor provider working with kiwifruit orchards across Gisborne and the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand's major kiwifruit-growing regions. We are hiring seasonal orchard workers for the 2026/27 summer season to help with thinning, cane work, and other orchard tasks as the crop develops ahead of harvest.
No prior orchard experience is required. Full training is provided before you start, and the work itself involves repetitive, hands-on outdoor tasks: thinning fruit to improve size and quality, tying and training canes along the orchard structure, and general orchard maintenance as directed by your crew leader. It is physical work done outdoors in all weather, standing and reaching for extended periods, so a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to work steadily through a full shift matter more than any specific qualification.
The Gisborne season runs from late September to roughly mid-December 2026, while Bay of Plenty orchards start a little later, from October onwards; total seasonal work runs about three months depending on location and crop conditions. Pay is NZ$23.95 per hour plus 8 percent holiday pay, which is calculated and paid out at the conclusion of your contract. Vardaan can help arrange shared housing in Gisborne, generally around NZ$200 to $250 per week per person for a shared room, and there is also van/campervan parking with access to kitchen and shower facilities for workers who prefer that option, though space is limited and booking ahead is recommended either way.
This role is genuinely seasonal, tied to the kiwifruit growing calendar, and is a well-established part of New Zealand's seasonal agricultural workforce. To be eligible you need to already hold valid New Zealand work rights (most seasonal workers arrange this through a New Zealand Working Holiday visa or other independently obtained work authorization before applying), along with a New Zealand IRD number and an active New Zealand bank account so you can be paid correctly. Vardaan does not arrange visas directly, so if you are applying from overseas, sort out your New Zealand work authorization first.
If you want genuine seasonal orchard work in one of New Zealand's classic kiwifruit regions, with training provided and no experience required, this is a solid option for a working-holiday season. Apply through Vardaan's own pre-application page, or reach out directly by WhatsApp for questions before applying.
