Camp Assistant 2027 – Wilderness Resort Erfalik

Backcountry Greenland operates Hotel Sisimiut and the remote Wilderness Resort Erfalik, a small lodge accessible only by boat or snowmobile in the Greenlandic backcountry near Sisimiut. We are hiring a Camp Assistant for the 2027 season to support daily operations at Erfalik during the spring and summer wilderness lodge season.

This is a hands-on, physically active role in one of the most remote inhabited parts of the Arctic. You will help prepare and serve meals for guests, maintain the lodge and grounds, assist with guest arrivals and departures by boat, chop and haul firewood, keep common areas clean, and generally keep the camp running smoothly during multi-day guest stays. Guests come to Erfalik to disconnect, hike, fish, and experience the Greenlandic wilderness, so a calm, welcoming, can-do attitude matters as much as any specific skill.

Because Erfalik has no road access and limited connectivity, you should be comfortable with basic off-grid living: outhouse facilities, generator power, and weather that can change quickly. Food and accommodation during wilderness lodge stays are provided as part of the role. Rotations at the lodge are interspersed with time back in Sisimiut, so you are not isolated at the camp for the entire season.

We are looking for someone with a Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish) plus working English, since guests and staff communicate in both. You should be in good physical condition, comfortable with manual outdoor work in changing weather, and genuinely interested in Arctic travel and hospitality rather than viewing it as an obstacle to endure. Previous lodge, camp, hostel, or expedition support experience is an advantage but not required if you can demonstrate the right attitude and physical capability.

The season runs from spring/summer 2026 through mid-September, though exact start and end dates are flexible depending on guest bookings and weather windows. This suits someone looking for a genuinely unusual seasonal placement rather than a typical resort job — Sisimiut is Greenland's second-largest town, reachable by plane from Nuuk or Kangerlussuaq, and Erfalik itself is a short boat or snowmobile trip beyond that.
