The role is fully remote and listed as East Coast US and Europe (Remote); Dune is a team of roughly 50 people spread across European and eastern US time zones and works remote-first and async-first with flexible hours. You will own the lifecycle of building high-quality curated data: the orchestration and management of thousands of interdependent data models, including backfills, restatements, retries and recovery. Design and build the control systems for the curated data lifecycle, covering orchestration, backfills, restatements, retries and recovery. Decide the right architectural shape for datasets, whether models, services or jobs. Design the contracts between data ingestion and data curation so the pipeline can be reasoned about end to end. Build alerting and data quality monitoring. Work across Go, Kotlin, Rust, Python and SQL. Break complex problems into well-scoped work for the wider team.
Backend engineer with deep data systems experience, or a data engineer who has developed strong software engineering skills. Experience building orchestration systems, handling schema evolution with downstream consumers, and operating stateful stream processing in production. Strong SQL, solid computer science fundamentals and distributed systems knowledge. Must be based in the East Coast US or Europe time zones per the listing.
