Software Engineering
Helsing
Helsing, the European defence AI company, is opening 20+ early-career roles across its Deployed AI and Software Engineering teams in Berlin, London and Munich, and this Junior Software Engineer posting is offered through its Bring Something Awesome to Apply (BSA2A) route: instead of a CV-first screen, you submit a short expression-of-interest form and then a prerecorded walkthrough of up to 10 minutes of an ambitious technical project you designed, built or contributed to, which a Helsing engineer evaluates directly. That is followed by two 60-minute technical interviews (a deep dive on your project and systems design, then live coding) and a 30-minute conversation with engineering leadership. The role builds AI capabilities and infrastructure that let semi-autonomous platforms localize, navigate and perceive the world in real time, software that must be reliable under tight constraints. Relocation support is stated explicitly in the listing's benefits: up to EUR 2,500 and 4 weeks of temporary accommodation, plus a EUR 500 or GBP 450 yearly learning allowance, gym membership and mental health support, 22 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers and a competitive salary (no figure given). Important caveat: the posting states relocation support but does not contain a sentence about visa sponsorship or work authorization, and Helsing is a defence company, so eligibility for some nationalities may be restricted in practice; the listing is included on the strength of its explicit relocation support only. Develop AI-based capabilities and enabling infrastructure that allow semi-autonomous platforms to localize, navigate and perceive the world in real time. Write reliable software that operates under significant technical constraints, in constantly changing environments, and that supports growing use-cases across multiple fields of engineering. Collaborate closely with other engineers through code review and pair programming. Reason about and write code independently, since Helsing operates in environments where LLM use is not always permitted. Apply via the BSA2A route: complete the expression-of-interest form, then submit a 10-minute prerecorded video walkthrough of a technical project you built, followed by two technical interviews and a final leadership conversation.

Evaluated on engineering depth and craft, first-principles problem solving and clear technical communication.
