Parity Technologies
Parity is one of the world's most experienced core blockchain infrastructure companies, founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum, and the builder of core Polkadot technology. The SRE team is responsible for the infrastructure that makes the Polkadot platform work: test and production network environments, deployment pipelines, observability, and the systems that developers, node operators and end-user applications across the ecosystem rely on. The team runs environments at different stability tiers, from fast-moving test networks with daily automated updates to production networks with 24/7 on-call coverage. Parity is looking for an engineering manager who can lead a small team of experienced SRE engineers and raise the standard of what reliability looks like in a blockchain infrastructure context: setting engineering direction, building the conditions for good work, and treating reliability as a discipline through SLOs, error budgets and blameless postmortems. The role is listed as Remote; Parity describes itself as remote-first, with offices in Berlin, Lisbon and London. No country or timezone restriction is stated in the listing.

Lead and develop a team of experienced SRE engineers responsible for Polkadot test and production network environments, deployment pipelines and observability. Set engineering direction for the team and build the conditions for high-quality work. Establish and calibrate SLOs and error budgets and run blameless postmortems that lead to real improvements. Drive automation so skilled engineers are not spending time on work a machine could do. Oversee 24/7 on-call coverage for production networks and the operation of multiple stability tiers of infrastructure. Grow engineers under your leadership and collaborate across a small, high-scope team.
A genuine understanding of distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure; you need to be credible to very senior engineers even if you are not the most senior technically. Experience working in or leading a team that takes SRE seriously: you know what error budgets are for, when SLOs are miscalibrated, and how to run postmortems that improve things. A track record of building teams that automate away repetitive work. Demonstrated people development, ideally with engineers who have grown into bigger roles under you. Comfort with unusual territory: blockchain infrastructure has properties that do not map cleanly onto standard cloud operations, and prior Web3 experience is not required. Highly motivated, autonomous, accountable and comfortable with the fast-changing Web3 space.
