Solution Architect (Remote – Work from Anywhere)

Xapo Bank, a fully-licensed digital bank headquartered in Gibraltar built around Bitcoin and digital assets, is hiring a Solution Architect to help shape engineering standards across its distributed organization. This is a full-time, 100% remote position — Xapo Bank describes it plainly as "work from anywhere."

The role reports to the CTO and blends hands-on architecture work with organization-wide influence: rather than sitting purely in a governance function, this Solution Architect is expected to personally build production-grade prototypes while also driving decentralized architectural decision-making across the company.

Responsibilities:

• Own and facilitate the Architectural Advice Forum (AAF), driving decentralized decision-making across engineering
• Personally build production-grade prototypes rather than operating purely as a reviewer
• Partner with leadership on AI strategy across the organization
• Establish engineering standards across backend, web, and mobile platforms
• Embed security-first architecture into how teams design and ship systems
• Mentor engineers across multiple teams on architectural thinking and tradeoffs

Requirements:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years as an architect or senior individual contributor
• Hands-on production coding experience (language-agnostic, though Python familiarity is a plus)
• Expertise designing distributed, event-driven systems at scale
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design and decentralized architectural governance models
• Background in regulated fintech or banking environments
• Security architecture design experience, including threat modeling
• Working knowledge of AI/ML and LLM implementation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, since this role operates across a fully distributed organization
• Ability to work reliably within a CET-compatible time zone with a stable internet connection

Nice to have:

• Crypto or Web3 experience
• Familiarity with Team Topologies
• Experience standardizing architecture across multiple platforms (backend/web/mobile)
• SRE or platform engineering background
• Open-source contributions
