Railway
Railway, the infrastructure platform that lets developers deploy full-stack apps without managing servers, is hiring a Senior Infra Engineer to work on the core platform powering how every Railway user builds and scales their applications. The role is remote, anywhere.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role rather than a pure architecture position: the team designs and exposes the tools that let Railway's users build scalable applications, while also scaling Railway's own internal operations and infrastructure to support that.
Responsibilities:
• Design and expose infrastructure tools that let Railway users build scalable applications
• Scale Railway's internal operations and company infrastructure alongside the product-facing platform
• Own real outcomes end-to-end — from decision-making through delivery
• Participate in on-call rotation (roughly 1-2 weeks per quarter)
• Build monitoring, alerting, and dashboards to keep systems reliable
Requirements:
• Strong application-level coding experience, particularly with Golang, gRPC, and Postgres
• Solid understanding of OS primitives such as syscalls and cgroups
• A track record of delivering projects from zero to production, leading and scaling them, and learning from what became technical debt along the way
• Demonstrated agency and urgency in how you execute
• Strong RFC and documentation skills for communicating complex technical decisions
• On-call experience and comfort building monitoring infrastructure
• Strong prioritization skills in a fast-moving environment
Nice to have (deep expertise in one or two of the following):
• Baremetal networking at 1T+ requests/month scale
• Container orchestration at 100m+ scale
• Metrics, logs, and traces infrastructure
• Block storage and filesystems
• OCI build/transfer optimization
• Datacenter operations experience
What Railway offers:
• A fully remote, global role with a competitive salary and stock options
• Unlimited PTO with a required minimum of 2 weeks
• Comprehensive healthcare coverage
• The chance to build core infrastructure used directly by every developer on the platform, rather than an internal tool used by one team
Railway frames this role around genuine ownership: the expectation is that you drive projects from initial design through production, not just implement someone else's spec.
To apply, submit your name, email, resume, and a short "Why Railway?" statement through the application form on Railway's own careers page.
