Engineering Manager, Safeguards (London, Visa Sponsorship Available)

Lead, grow and coach an engineering team developing investigation and review tools for safety across first- and third-party platforms. Define the platform vision including analytics, privacy-preserving data access and sandbox environments for rapid interface development. Drive automation strategies to scale review processes using Claude while maintaining human oversight where judgment is critical. Collaborate with policy, operations, legal and data science teams to ensure enforcement systems are effective and trustworthy. Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical partners.

Experience managing software engineering teams with a proven record of hiring and coaching. Technical background in full-stack or platform engineering. Track record shipping internal tools for demanding users. Experience working cross-functionally with non-engineering partners such as policy, legal and operations. Strong communication skills explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences. Commitment to AI safety. Based in or willing to relocate to London; office presence at least 25 percent of the time. Anthropic sponsors visas for this role where possible.
