N26, the Berlin-based digital bank, is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Memberships team in Barcelona, Spain. The Memberships team owns the backend services behind N26's subscription plans and customer-facing membership features. N26 explicitly offers international hires a relocation package with visa support for those who need it, alongside a hybrid working model out of its Barcelona tech hub. You will design, build, test and run backend microservices on AWS in a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers and designers, delivering features used by millions of customers across Europe.

Design, develop, test and maintain backend services for N26's subscription and membership platform. Deliver customer-facing features end to end, from design through production. Conduct code reviews and uphold clean, well-tested code. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and engineers across teams.
Experience developing backend applications with modern languages and frameworks (N26's stack is Kotlin and Java). Understanding of APIs, databases and distributed systems, with familiarity with PostgreSQL and microservices architecture. Basic knowledge of AWS cloud services. Commitment to security, quality and reliable, well-tested code. Full professional proficiency in English. Curiosity, collaboration, ownership and openness to feedback.
