This is a fully remote role posted for Remote, United States and Remote, Canada. It is a player-coach position: you set the direction for the social function and stay hands-on in content creation, working alongside two Social Media Managers on a dotted-line basis. You will own the performance of social media and its contribution to marketing, lead organic strategy across LinkedIn, X, YouTube and other channels, partner on paid social, guide content planning, manage budgets and tooling, and build measurement frameworks that show what social is delivering for the business. GitLab is an all-remote company with team members in more than 60 countries, and this role sits within its global marketing organization. The US salary range is 139,200 to 235,200 USD per year, and the role includes equity, flexible paid time off, health and financial benefits, a growth and development fund, and parental leave.

Own social function performance and its contribution to marketing. Lead organic social strategy across channels and manage YouTube strategy end to end, including channel architecture and video optimization. Partner with demand generation on paid social initiatives. Develop audience-focused campaigns and guide content planning. Manage budgets, tooling and agency relationships. Build cross-functional partnerships with product marketing, developer relations, communications and brand. Establish measurement frameworks and report on results. 10 or more years in social media with at least 5 years leading global brand social strategy at senior manager level or above. Experience owning a social function end to end, including leading teams and agencies. Depth in YouTube strategy and hands-on experience growing LinkedIn and X audiences. Paid social proficiency and strong editorial judgment. Fluency with short-form and long-form video. Experience defining measurement frameworks and building employee advocacy programs. Familiarity with enterprise social tools such as Sprout Social, Meltwater and EveryoneSocial. Experience running multi-region and multi-language campaigns. Ability to prioritize effectively in fast-moving situations. Must be located in the United States or Canada.
