Staff Product Manager
StackBlitz
Description
Bolt.new is built by StackBlitz, the team behind WebContainers — the technology that first made it possible to run Node.js inside a browser. That work began in 2019 and now powers an online IDE used by over a million developers a month. Bolt.new took it further: an AI-powered app builder that turns an idea into a deployed full-stack web or mobile app, entirely in the browser, with no installs or setup.
The team is **fully remote and globally distributed**.
**What this role is**
An individual contributor role operating at the system level, **reporting directly to the CEO**.
Bolt.new is blunt about what that means: you will not be handed a roadmap and told to execute it. You look across the entire product, find the problems that matter most, and drive them to resolution. That might be fixing something quietly killing retention, untangling a user journey spanning three surfaces, or deciding how a new capability should behave everywhere it appears.
You would work alongside a small product team with high standards. In their words: no layers, no committees, real decisions.
**How you'll contribute**
- Finding the highest-impact product problems across bolt.new, with nobody handing you the list
- Owning complex, cross-surface initiatives from diagnosis through to shipping
- Working closely with engineering and design on system-level decisions
- Keeping the product feeling like one coherent experience rather than a pile of features
- Raising the quality of product thinking across the team
**Qualifications**
7+ years of product experience, with at least some at this level of scope and ambiguity. Beyond that, Bolt.new calls out five things that matter more than the years:
- **You use products like a real user.** You find broken things because you actually tried to build something, not because you ran a checklist
- **You write well.** This is a remote company; context lives in documents, and your thinking has to hold up on the page
- **You're technically comfortable.** You do not need to write code, but you need real conversations with engineers about tradeoffs. Developer tools and AI product familiarity helps
- **You have a high bar for quality.** You notice when something is slightly off and cannot leave it alone
- **You make decisions.** You know the difference between a call that needs more data and one that just needs someone to pull the trigger
Strong written and spoken English is required, as it is the primary working language.
**What Bolt.new states explicitly**
- You do **not** need a college degree
- You do **not** need to be located in the U.S. — they are remote-friendly
- You do **not** need to meet every qualification listed
**A sibling role worth knowing about**
Bolt.new is running **two product manager positions in parallel**. This is the Staff-level one, asking 7+ years and reporting directly to the CEO. There is also a **Senior Product Manager** role asking 5+ years, focused on owning a meaningful product area with a specialisation such as PLG and onboarding, creation tools, platform and APIs, analytics, monetisation, or AI-powered products.
The framing is near-identical across both — same system-level ownership, same "nobody hands you a roadmap" posture. The difference is seniority and reporting line. Apply to the one matching your experience rather than both.
**Two practical requirements**
The application asks you to confirm availability from **7:00 to 10:00 AM Pacific Time** for cross-timezone collaboration. That is straightforward from the Americas, an afternoon commitment from Europe, and a late-night one from Asia — worth weighing honestly.
Sanctions-related location restrictions apply, covering Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
Bolt.new also discloses that it uses Greenhouse Talent Matching and an AI-assisted recruiting workflow to help review applications, with an opt-out link provided.
