Bolt.new is built by StackBlitz, the team behind WebContainers — the technology that made it possible to run Node.js inside a browser. That work started in 2019 and now powers an online IDE used by over a million developers a month. Bolt.new extends it into an AI-powered app builder that goes from a written description to a deployed full-stack web or mobile app, entirely in the browser. The team is fully remote and globally distributed.

How they frame the product

Bolt describes itself as the collaboration platform for the agentic era: not a coding tool and not an AI wrapper, but somewhere anyone with taste, judgment and a problem worth solving can direct a team of AI agents to build and ship real software. The company calls itself one of the fastest-growing products in software history, and says everyone hired carries real weight.

What kind of PM role this is

This is a senior individual contributor position operating at the system level, and the listing is blunt about what that means: nobody hands you a roadmap. You look across the whole product, work out where the real problems are, and go fix them.

In practice that might mean chasing down something quietly damaging retention one week, and untangling a journey sprawling across three surfaces nobody quite owns the next, or deciding how a new capability should behave everywhere it appears.

The listing closes that section with a useful filter: if you want a role where someone else defines the problems and hands you the steps, this is not it.

How you would contribute

• Set product strategy for ambiguous, high-impact areas, making prioritisation calls grounded in customer insight, product quality, business impact and technical feasibility
• Own complex cross-surface initiatives from first diagnosis through to shipped — owning the work start to finish rather than scoping it and passing it on
• Use the product the way a real user would, actually building things, so you catch what is broken before customers do
• Co-own the metrics for your area across activation, engagement, retention and expansion, and use them to direct the team toward the highest-leverage work
• Run discovery across users, customers, CX, Sales and internal teams, converting qualitative signal and usage data into sharp judgment
• Navigate hard tradeoffs cross-functionally and build alignment
• Hold responsibility for consistent look and feel, and for delivering value to user groups with very different technical abilities
• Turn what you are seeing into clear written thinking others can act on
• Raise the standard of product thinking across the team, mainly by example

Qualifications

• 5+ years in product, with at least some of it at this level of scope and ambiguity
• Senior IC experience at a product-led company, creating leverage without a large team or a perfect plan
• Real fluency in product-led growth: tracing a single lever such as activation or onboarding through to retention and revenue, and reaching for those levers instinctively
• Strong product judgment — noticing when something feels off, understanding why, and converting that into clear direction
• Comfort in the technical weeds. You do not need to write the code, but you do need honest tradeoff conversations with engineers. Developer tools and AI product familiarity is a strong plus
• Genuine ownership, moving with urgency without waiting for permission or structure
• Strong written and spoken English, the primary working language

Bonus points

• Built developer tools, AI products or other technical products for technical audiences
• Able to prototype an idea yourself well enough to make the point, rather than only describe it

Bolt.new is running two product manager positions in parallel. This is the Senior-level one, asking 5+ years. There is also a Staff Product Manager role asking 7+ years and reporting directly to the CEO.

The framing is near-identical across both — same system-level ownership, same "nobody hands you a roadmap" posture. The difference is seniority and reporting line. Apply to the one matching your experience rather than both.

Two practical requirements

The application asks you to confirm availability from 7:00 to 10:00 AM Pacific Time for cross-timezone collaboration — easy from the Americas, an afternoon commitment from Europe, a late one from Asia.
