AI Research Engineer (Pre-training – LLM & Multi-Modal)

Tether, the company behind the USDT stablecoin and one of the largest players in the crypto industry, is hiring an AI Research Engineer to work on large-scale pre-training for language and multi-modal models. The role is explicitly listed as 100% remote, worldwide.

Tether has been expanding well beyond stablecoins into AI infrastructure, and this role sits inside that push: building and training foundation-model-scale systems using distributed GPU infrastructure, rather than fine-tuning existing off-the-shelf models.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct large-scale pre-training for language and multi-modal systems using distributed GPU infrastructure
• Design model architectures, tokenizers, and cross-modal alignment techniques
• Source and curate large-scale datasets, and build efficient training pipelines around them
• Run experiments independently to optimize model performance and token efficiency
• Identify and resolve training bottlenecks in distributed systems
• Contribute to the evolution of Tether's distributed training infrastructure

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (a PhD in NLP/ML with publications at top-tier conferences is preferred)
• Hands-on experience with large-scale LLM or multi-modal pre-training on infrastructure spanning thousands of NVIDIA GPUs
• Proficiency with distributed training frameworks
• Deep knowledge of transformer architectures and non-transformer architecture modifications
• Strong expertise in PyTorch and Hugging Face libraries
