Software Engineering
Solutions Architect, APAC
Airalo
Description
Airalo runs the world's first eSIM store, helping millions of travellers access affordable mobile data across 200+ countries and regions. The team is 400+ people spread across 60+ countries, fully remote by design.
There is a neat fit here for anyone who works while travelling: many of the people building the product were customers first. This is a company whose entire reason for existing is keeping people connected as they move between countries.
**The role**
Airalo is looking for a Solution Architect to lead the localised adaptation and system integration of its Global MVNO Core. The mission is making sure the platform — HSS, DRA, PGW — is not merely connected but properly optimised for each local market's requirements.
You would sit between standardised engineering sprints and the custom-heavy demands of local mobile network operators, regulators and partners. In Airalo's framing, you provide the "functional why and what" to Core Network Engineers so they can concentrate on technical architecture while you ensure regional mandates and interconnectivity specifications are met.
**Responsibilities**
- Acting as the primary conduit between legal and regulatory findings and the Core Network team, translating regional mandates into clear functional requirements
- Leading requirement discovery workshops with local MNOs, regulators and internal teams to define scope, priorities and implementation approach
- Comparing local regulatory requirements against existing platform capabilities, then working with Core Engineers on enhancements, trade-offs and phased delivery
- Creating high-level technical workflows and flowcharts for regulatory services such as Mobile Number Portability and Lawful Interception
- Defining business rules and data exchange requirements for MNP, and functional needs for voice and SMS routing including edge cases
- Defining the data points and reporting frequencies local authorities require, so engineering builds the right extraction and validation tooling
- Leading definition of acceptance criteria, test scenarios and sign-off requirements against each country's regulatory hurdles
- Managing the technical-regulatory checklist for several countries at once, capturing dependencies and escalating risks early
- Coordinating with local central databases and external partners on interworking specifications and integration readiness
- Mentoring Solution Analysts and cross-functional teams on user stories, functional specs and traceability from regulation to implementation
**Must haves**
- 7+ years as a Technical Business Analyst or Solution Architect, preferably in telecom or tech
- Proven ability to turn complex regulatory documents into actionable engineering tasks
- Comfort discussing SIP, SMS routing and MNP databases with engineers
- Strong user stories, functional specs and Jira ticket writing that teams can execute against
- Experience or deep interest in international roaming, interconnectivity and varying global telecom markets
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and process flowcharts
- Coaching and mentoring experience
- Ability to act as liaison between legal, product and engineering
- Good written and verbal English
**Nice to have**
- MVNO or Mobile Core environment experience
- GSMA standards and eSIM technology
- Lawful Interception and regional compliance reporting
**Compensation — disclosed**
Airalo calls this "roaming-free recruitment" and publishes ranges up front:
- **Singapore: SGD 98,800 – SGD 148,200**
- **Philippines: ₱2,258,800 – ₱3,388,200**
Your specific range depends on where you are based, and Airalo says the Talent team walks through it on the first call.
**Worth knowing: there is a Europe twin of this role**
Airalo runs the same Solutions Architect position for Europe, with six European pay bands from the UK through the Balkans. The job content is identical — only the region and compensation differ. If you are Europe-based, look for that version instead.
**A note on location**
The listing carries an inconsistency worth knowing about. The header location field reads "Europe," but the job title says APAC and the compensation section states the role is open across Airalo's supported locations in APAC, listing Singapore and Philippines ranges.
Two signals out of three point to APAC, and the title is explicit, so it is filed that way here. If you are Europe-based and otherwise a strong fit, it is worth asking Airalo directly rather than assuming either reading.
**Before applying**
Full-time and permanent. English is the day-to-day working language, in meetings and async.
Airalo discloses that it uses AI-assisted tools to review and organise CV information, with all hiring decisions made by humans. If you reach interview, AI-assisted note-taking may be used and **you can opt out**.
Successful applicants may be asked to consent to background checks at the end of the selection process.
