Senior Director, FP&A

Halcyon builds the industry's first dedicated adaptive security platform aimed specifically at stopping ransomware, combining proprietary prevention engines with AI models. The company was formed in 2021 by cyber industry veterans from Cylance (now BlackBerry), Accuvant (now Optiv), FireEye and ISS X-Force (now IBM), serving mid-market and enterprise customers.

Halcyon describes itself as **remote-native and completely distributed**, with the stated view that great talent can exist anywhere. Their agent runs on customer endpoints in production across some of the largest environments in the world.

**The role**

This is a strategic finance leadership position reporting to the **Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer**, covering planning, forecasting, performance analysis and board-level reporting, while building the financial infrastructure the business needs in order to scale.

Halcyon frames it as sitting at the intersection of finance, strategy and go-to-market — someone who can translate operating data into recommendations that shape headcount, capital allocation and growth decisions.

**Planning, forecasting and modelling**

- Owning the annual operating plan plus quarterly re-forecasts and monthly forecasting
- Building and maintaining models across ARR, revenue, headcount, operating expenses, gross margin, cash flow and core SaaS metrics
- Leading scenario planning to support executive decisions
- Monitoring performance against budget and forecast, surfacing risks and opportunities in real time

**Reporting and board support**

- Delivering monthly and quarterly reporting packages with variance analysis, root causes and actionable insight
- Leading the monthly board reporting process with the COO, including board decks and investor materials
- Ensuring consistent reporting across P&L, balance sheet and cash flow

**Business partnering**

- Acting as strategic finance partner to go-to-market and G&A leaders
- Partnering with Sales, Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success and HR on headcount planning, compensation analysis and budgets
- Supporting sales planning through quota capacity modelling, pipeline coverage, marketing efficiency and territory ROI analysis

**SaaS metrics and strategic finance**

- Owning KPI reporting across ARR, MRR, churn, GRR, NRR, LTV:CAC, burn multiple and Rule of 40
- Translating CRM, billing and operating data into executive-ready insight
- Supporting fundraising readiness, investor diligence, pricing analysis, capital allocation and M&A work

**Qualifications**

- 10+ years in FP&A, finance or related analytical roles at high-growth B2B SaaS companies
- Deep expertise in SaaS metrics: ARR/MRR, GRR, NRR, LTV:CAC, Rule of 40, burn multiple
- Advanced modelling in Excel or Google Sheets; FP&A platforms such as Adaptive, Anaplan, Mosaic or Pigment preferred
- Experience preparing and presenting materials to executive leadership and a board
- **Meaningful hands-on experience using LLM tools alongside Excel and FP&A platforms** — stated as a requirement, not a nice-to-have
- Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting or related. Big 4, MBA, CPA, CFA or CMA a plus

**Location — the important caveat**

The listing header says Remote, and Halcyon genuinely operates as a distributed company. But the role detail specifies **"Remote / West Coast preferred."**

Combined with a benefits package built around US structures — 401k, FSA, US-style healthcare — this is realistically a US role with a Pacific-timezone lean, rather than an open-to-anywhere one. Anyone outside the US should confirm eligibility before investing time.
