Description

GiveWell — the research organisation that has directed over $2.6 billion to cost-effective global health and development programs since 2007, including $500M+ in 2025 alone, and whose work saves an estimated 340,000+ lives by finding and funding the highest-impact charitable giving opportunities in the world — is hiring Researchers to work fully remotely from anywhere internationally or in the United States, with visa sponsorship and up to 100% relocation expenses for candidates who need them. This is one of the highest-leverage research roles in the world: Researchers directly inform the allocation of hundreds of millions of dollars to programs combatting malaria, malnutrition, vitamin A deficiency, and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. You'll execute ambitious research agendas — synthesising empirical evidence, building cost-effectiveness models, reviewing specific grantmaking opportunities, answering thorny quantitative questions that don't yet have published answers — and your work will be published transparently on GiveWell's website for the world to read and challenge. The typical hire has a Master's in a quantitative field (economics, policy, public health) with a few years of relevant experience, or a PhD with limited post-graduation experience. Salary is $200,000-$220,000 USD (higher for NYC and San Francisco Bay Area), with equivalent salaries delivered in local currency for internationally-based staff. Benefits include 100% health/dental/vision premiums, four weeks PTO, 16 weeks parental leave, 5% retirement contribution, and ergonomic home workstation or co-working membership. Rolling applications — apply as soon as possible.
