Software Engineering
Full Stack Product Engineer – Remote/Europe
Jiga
Description
Jiga is on a mission to help engineers build physical products faster. Their framing is "npm install for mechanical engineers" — infrastructure that makes hardware development as fast as software. The platform connects engineers directly with vetted manufacturers, and is used by teams at NASA, Tesla, Siemens and Google.
A YC-backed company, fully funded, cashflow positive, with revenue growing month on month. They also state they are completely transparent about runway and finances and invite candidates to ask.
How the team actually works
Jiga is a small, fully remote team distributed globally. Most product and engineering talent sits in Europe and Israel, with colleagues in the US and Asia. Most work is async, which they describe as the secret sauce of how they operate.
Four things they call out about the culture:
• High trust, low bureaucracy — no hour counting, no Slack surveillance. Real ownership over architecture and functionality without endless approval cycles
• Question everything — their internal motto is "Don't drink the kool-aid"
• No stupid meetings — one weekly all-hands and one dev team sync. That is the entire recurring calendar; everything else happens async in Slack or Loom
• Genuinely social — weekly online games, and an annual offsite somewhere good (Greece is next)
Engineering values
Simple over complicated. Ship it, then improve it. Product over engineering — every line of code should make users' lives better rather than demonstrate algorithmic prowess.
What you need
• 3+ years building full-stack web applications end to end
• Strong React and Node.js. MongoDB is a significant plus
• Experience with complex applications — clean architecture, security, scaling, performance, maintainability
• Solid data modelling fundamentals
• Product company experience, having felt the joy and pain of real users
• Some overlap with GMT+3 working hours
They are refreshingly direct about who this suits
Jiga spell out who should *not* apply: people who dislike ambiguity and prefer detailed task assignments, people who want management checking their work repeatedly, anyone looking for a comfortable 9-to-5 to coast in, and anyone who enjoys weeks spent architecting over-complicated solutions. They add, fairly, that there is no judgment if that is what you want — it just is not what they are.
That kind of honesty is worth more than a longer requirements list. You can tell before applying whether you would enjoy it.
What they offer
• Generous stock options, framed as looking for partners for a three-to-four-year marathon
• Competitive salary and PTO
• Complete flexibility — work from anywhere, set your own hours
• Self-development budget for books, courses and conferences
• Annual offsite in beautiful places
• A small team with genuine ownership and impact from day one
Their own list opens with what they do *not* have: no ping pong tables, no beer kegs, no "unlimited vacation" nobody takes, no ice cream fridge — and no office at all.
Location
Listed as Remote/Europe, with the practical requirement being some overlap with GMT+3 hours. That works comfortably from anywhere in Europe, and reasonably from East Africa and Western Asia.
Note that Jiga also runs a separate Remote/US version of this same role. Apply to whichever region matches where you are based.
One quirk in the application
They ask you to send a short blurb about yourself and your favourite ice cream flavour — with a specific request not to answer "Vanilla JS". Treat it as a genuine part of the application rather than a throwaway.
