Customer Success Manager – US [IC2]

Sourcegraph brings clarity and control to complex codebases. AI has accelerated code creation, but the tooling to understand and evolve that code has lagged behind — Sourcegraph supplies the context layer, giving engineering teams and their agents cross-repo visibility and the ability to make coordinated changes across hundreds of repositories. Stripe, Reddit and Leidos rely on it. Backed by a16z, Sequoia and Redpoint, and operated as a globally distributed team.

**The role**

You would join a small, high-performing Customer Success team, managing a book of roughly 20 enterprise and commercial accounts and owning the post-sales relationship end to end: driving adoption, surfacing risk, and getting customers healthy for renewal and expansion.

Sourcegraph is explicit that this is not passive relationship management. You would be inside the product, digging into health scores and telemetry, running one-to-one trainings, leading business reviews, and working alongside Named AEs and Field Engineers.

The timing adds weight: the company is shifting from a seats-based model to consumption, which makes the CSM's impact considerably more visible.

**How the first six months are framed**

- **Month one:** build relationships with your team and counterparts, learn the product and customers, shadow calls, take over your first accounts
- **Month three:** own regular customer cadences, build value maps, track adoption health, lead product trainings and demos independently without Field Engineering backup, partner with AEs on renewals and expansion signals
- **Month six:** drive adoption of Deep Search, MCP and consumption features; proactively surface risk and opportunity; run internal business reviews and customer QBRs with documented KPIs; act as the voice of your customers to product and support

**About you**

- Tech-curious and comfortable with real autonomy — Sourcegraph says plainly there is gray space in how you structure your week, and nobody will build it for you
- Genuinely interested in developer tooling. You do not need to write code, but leading a group training without a Field Engineer should feel comfortable rather than intimidating
- Analytical, able to read telemetry and health scores and build a renewal story from usage patterns, then present it to developers or executives
- Coachable — light demo experience is fine if you take feedback and incorporate it quickly

**Required**

- Customer-facing experience (CSM, account management, technical support, solutions consulting or similar — the title matters less than the experience)
- Prior experience in a technical SaaS environment
- Comfort presenting to customers or technical audiences

**Nice to have**

- Background in developer tooling, observability or infrastructure
- Experience with a large, varied book of business
- CS, engineering or technical undergraduate background

**Compensation — fully disclosed**

**$96,640 USD base + $24,160 USD commission = $120,800 OTE**, plus equity.

Sourcegraph publishes compensation ranges internally to every teammate and targets the high end of market. Both US and international locations are divided into four zones by cost-of-labour index, and pay is adjusted accordingly.

**Location — read carefully**

The role is remote, and Sourcegraph states it hires almost anywhere in the world. However, **this role carries a stated preference for candidates in the United States.**

The application asks which location you will work from 51%+ of the time, and about visa sponsorship. Sourcegraph notes that because teammates can generally work from anywhere, it sponsors visas only for roles requiring presence in a particular country — so do not expect sponsorship here.

**Interview process**

Roughly four hours total: recruiter screen, hiring manager screen, a cross-functional peer interview with a CSM and AE, a working session, a values interview, and a 15-minute leadership conversation with the CRO. Candidates may request additional conversations with anyone they would like to meet.
