ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project) is hiring a remote contract researcher to collect and code political-violence and protest event data on Yemen for its global conflict-monitoring dataset. This role is fully remote from any location with reliable internet, and is open to nationals of any country. Fluency in Arabic and English is required to work with local news and security reporting.
Review Yemen-focused news, NGO, and security reports written in Arabic and English. Record and code political-violence and protest events into ACLED's standardized Excel-based data templates. Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of coded data through careful cross-referencing of sources.

University degree in international relations, political science, conflict studies, or a related field. Fluent English and Arabic (essential). Strong Excel skills (essential). Experience with desk research on conflict or security topics. Ability to work independently to deadlines, including some midweek and weekend submissions. High attention to detail, a personal computer, reliable internet access, and MS Office.
