Design and develop backend services, distributed systems and APIs for card issuing and payment processing. Own features end to end across architecture, coding, testing, observability and deployment. Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following engineering best practices and test-driven development. Break complex technical work into manageable, deliverable chunks. Collaborate within a cross-functional agile team and closely understand customers and the business. Mentor associate and mid-level engineers. Identify and deliver technical improvements for performance, reliability and scalability. Participate in incident response and support rotations, roughly one week on call per five-week cycle.
Five or more years of commercial experience with modern Java (version 15 and above) across multiple projects. Proven experience designing, building and maintaining distributed systems and microservices. Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and strong system design skills for scalable, resilient, high-performance applications. Proficiency with test-driven development. Expertise with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), containerization, CI/CD and infrastructure as code. Familiarity with event-driven architectures or domain-driven design. Experience in fintech, payments or another high-throughput regulated domain. Must be located in one of the listed hiring countries.
