Senior Data Scientist, Safety & Security (Remote, 18+ Countries)

Partner with product managers and engineers to define measurement strategies for safety and security features. Design experiments and A/B tests using rigorous statistical approaches and deliver clear, data-driven recommendations that guide product decisions around abuse detection and bot prevention. Write queries against large-scale data using tools such as Hive and Spark, build dashboards with dbt and Superset, and support feature instrumentation. Communicate findings to non-specialist audiences and volunteer communities.

Strong statistical and machine learning expertise with proficiency in Python or R and SQL. Demonstrated experience in experimental design and in collaborating with product teams on user-facing features. Experience using AI coding assistants. Clear communication skills, intellectual curiosity, empathy toward volunteer communities, and commitment to ethical data practices. Prior experience in trust and safety, security, or fraud prevention is preferred but not required. Must be available 13:00 to 19:00 UTC for synchronous collaboration.
