GitBook is looking for a highly autonomous data person to make data a core lever for product and business decisions. The company runs a profitable documentation platform with more than 100,000 monthly active users. You will sit between data, product and business, partnering with the Head of Data on architecture and long-term vision while working with product and engineering on metrics, experiments and roadmap influence. You decide when to build, buy or use lightweight tools, evolve data models, pipelines and instrumentation, and take GitBook's internal data agent to the next level. The stack includes BigQuery, dbt, Tableau, Count, Amplitude and Segment. The role is fully remote within a European time zone window, on a team spread across 15 countries.

Work with product and engineering to identify opportunities, define metrics, run experiments and influence the roadmap. Turn messy questions into analysis, insights and actions. Collaborate with the Head of Data on data architecture. Evolve data models, pipelines, instrumentation and tooling. Improve the internal data agent and help teams become more autonomous with data.
Strong SQL, data modeling and analytics skills. Comfort with modern data tooling such as BigQuery, dbt, Tableau and Amplitude. Product mindset and curiosity about user behavior. Ownership and judgment in ambiguous situations. Clear collaboration across product, engineering, growth and marketing. Based in Europe, within about 3 hours of the team's time zone.
