Mastra
Mastra is an open-source TypeScript agent framework built by the team behind Gatsby, backed by Y Combinator and Spark Capital with 35 million dollars in funding, and has reached more than 27,000 GitHub stars and over a million weekly npm downloads in under 18 months. Mastra is hiring a Customer Engineer who works at the intersection of production reality and core platform design. The role blends forward-deployed engineering with core framework engineering: you work directly with teams deploying agents in production, then translate what you learn into improvements to the Mastra framework itself. Most companies separate customer-facing engineering from core product engineering; Mastra does not, and this role exists to compress the feedback loop between real-world usage and platform improvements. The team is small, ships fast and is fully remote. Per the listing, most of the team works across North American and European time zones, and the role is open to candidates based in those time zones rather than in a single country. Compensation is not stated in the posting.

Partner with customer engineering teams on real agent system implementations and design and build agents collaboratively with their engineers. Improve system reliability, evaluation approaches, monitoring and scaling methods, and guide teams from prototype into production-ready systems. Develop customer expertise in the Mastra framework, document patterns and share best practices across accounts. On the framework side, convert recurring customer challenges into open-source improvements, resolve reliability and performance bottlenecks, build and enhance foundational primitives, improve overall code quality, and shape roadmap decisions using production insights.
Proven experience building and operating AI systems in production environments. Ability to think at the system level beyond implementation specifics and to recognize patterns across multiple problem domains. Strong commitment to developer experience and ergonomics. Preference for broad ownership rather than a narrowly specialized scope, and comfort alternating between hands-on customer work and platform design. Strong TypeScript skills are expected given the framework. The hiring process is a recruiter intro call, an interview with co-founder Shane Thomas, a peer interview with existing customer engineers, and a take-home project reviewed by the team.
