Compiler Engineer + SCIP Maintainer [IC4-5]

Sourcegraph — the world's most powerful code intelligence platform used by Stripe, Uber, and Dropbox to navigate and operate massive codebases, backed by a16z, Sequoia, and Redpoint — is hiring a Compiler Engineer and SCIP Maintainer at the IC4–IC5 (Senior to Staff) level, working fully remotely from almost anywhere in the world (East Coast USA or Europe preferred, but not required). SCIP is the open, language-agnostic protocol for indexing source code that powers go-to-definition, find-references, and dependency analysis across repositories and languages, used in production at Meta, Mozilla, Uber, and Stripe beyond Sourcegraph. This is equal parts compiler engineering and open-source leadership: you'll grow SCIP into a thriving multi-party standard, set technical governance and roadmap, own protocol evolution decisions, review and mentor external contributors, and drive alignment across major engineering organizations that run SCIP indexers in production. Sourcegraph pays above-average salaries globally: IC5 pay band starts at $192K (Zone 2), $144K (Zone 3), or $96K (Zone 4); IC4 starts at $172K / $129K / $86K respectively, with equity on top. Working hours must overlap with EST for at least 20 hours per week.
