Remote.com — the all-in-one global HR platform enabling businesses of all sizes to hire, pay, and manage international teams across 6 continents with no borders — is hiring an Engineering Team Leader to manage a small product team of 3–5 engineers while remaining an active technical contributor. Open to candidates anywhere in the world, the role balances roughly 30% people management (hiring, onboarding, continuous feedback, career development, and team dynamics) with 70% active product development alongside the team. You'll lead with an agentic engineering mindset: designing autonomous AI workflows end-to-end from spec to plan to execute to verify as the default execution layer, building reusable agentic primitives and workflows into the codebase, and embedding verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) across all deliverables to ensure correctness, security, reliability, and scale. Remote operates fully asynchronously across all timezones with no mandatory standups, flexible paid time off, 16 weeks parental leave, stock options, and full home office equipment support. Backend depth in Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby, or functional programming, and prior experience managing an engineering team of at least two people are required.
