Volunteer Ship Crew Member
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society
Description
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society — the global marine conservation organization running direct-action campaigns against illegal fishing, shark finning, whaling, and ocean wildlife destruction on the high seas — recruits passionate volunteer crew members to serve aboard its vessels worldwide in exchange for a full bunk, bedding, meals, and water for the duration of each campaign. The work is physically demanding and unglamorous: long hours in extreme weather, dangerous open-ocean conditions, and the kind of hard work that no amount of money could easily recruit for. What it offers instead is first-hand experience enforcing international conservation law at sea alongside some of the most motivated people in the world, plus passage to remote ocean locations unreachable any other way. Positions span all departments and skill levels; preference is given to crew who can commit the maximum time. No monetary compensation is offered — this is a genuine labor-for-passage work exchange, trading effort and expertise for berth, purpose, and an experience few people on earth will ever have.
